Introducing

me....calamitypam. I got this name from an old boyfriend.....he made me so nervous when we first met. I was like the proverbial bull in the china shop......always dropping, knocking, burning things in the oven...you name it. However, we stayed together for 5 years and he still calls now so it must not have been that bad. But the name stuck...perhaps because it kind of links me to Calamity Jane even though the only gun I have is a little 22 that shoots crooked.

As time goes by, you will get to know me and I will tell you stories that my friends have all begged me to put into written form for the general public. Some of the stories will seem unbelievable to you.....you may cry sometimes but most of the time you will shake your head in disbelief or laugh. I hope that when you laugh, you laugh with me not at me.

I had surgery three weeks ago today and wish I had thought of doing this then. I have had a severe bout of cabin fever and get bored easily. Also, this blog may help me to clear my psyche of many demons and perhaps keep me off my FaceBook farms for a bit.

I had a cervical diskectomy which means they fused several of my discs and inserted a metal plate in my spine. The surgery supposedly took 5 hours (I can neither confirm nor deny this as I was somewhere else in lala land). This was my fourth major surgery in less than 10 years. My boss says I like it but honestly, I don't get diagnosed with the little things like the HINI flu or bronchitis any longer....it always ends up with a scalpel. Lucky me. Fortunately, I bounce back quickly for my age and am able to get mobile relatively soon.

I am currently wearing a neck brace which is quite sexy and you can't believe the men standing in line to take a look and get to talk to me. (I may be sarcastic at times....please forgive me). The brace fits right under my chin and goes almost up to my crown in the back. It is made of stiff plastic, padding and velcro. I have to wear it 24-7 unless I am in shower. I thought of showering 24 hours a day but there is not enough hot water and I don't have enough money for the sewage portion of the water bill....so that is not feasible.

I have long hair and discovered that long hair and neck braces don't get along. I have had my hair in the Pebbles do since my surgery. Once again.....SEXY!!!!. A dear dear friend found me on FaceBook last week and came to visit me yesterday. She said I needed a bone to make the hair do work....so if you have a bone....please send to me. I really do want a bone of my own.

That may be enough for today....more tomorrow. I am going to try to lay down and sleep for a bit. Sweet dreams and God Bless......
